A harmonious getaway deep in the heart of a stunning oak woodland...

If you were to jot down your ultimate camping location wishlist, what would you include? Mountains? Lakes? Sea-views? Enchanted bluebell woodland? Now imagine this magical campsite-of-dreams encompassed all these awe-inspiring features and boasted the last word in luxury yurts AND what's more, won't leave you on the brink of bankruptcy! "Such a place can't be" we hear you cry. Oh ye of little faith. Big-city living has clearly left you jaded, deflated and in need of some serious R&R. So, look North my friends. Well north-west, to be exact, to one of Cumbria's finest luxury camping sites.

As visitors to the Lake District can testify, camping is a seriously big deal round these parts. And with the mighty Windermere and England's tallest peak, Scafell Pike, it's not hard to see the attraction. Far enough away from Coniston Water for peace and quiet but near enough to enjoy some lakeside fun, Ashlack Yurts is undoubtedly one of the Lake District's best glamping spots.

Ashlack's owners Katie and Ben are hospitality personified. Their twin yurts (a 19 footer and a mammoth 27ft Mongolian) comfortably sleep 28 between them making this an ideal spot for large groups. Inside, shabby-chic and ethnic features are the décor du jour. With wooden floors, sofas and a liberal adornment of candles, your yurts are ideally suited to post-hike relaxation – set off perfectly by the wood-burning stove for maximum snugness. Your attentive hosts will even provide bell tents for extra taggers-along.

Facilities are more than adequate (and most importantly, eco-friendly) with a safari shower and compost ’loo with a view’ looking out across Duddon Sands to the Emerald Isle.

Glampers with less of an inclination to the Lake Districts many outdoor pursuits will be pleasantly surprised to find a whole host of less intensive activities on offer which celebrate Cumbrian craft and heritage. Contact Katie and Ben for green woodworking, bushcraft, blacksmithing and knitting classes – a welcoming alternative to the area's more obvious mountain mirth and Lakeland larks.

With its bewildering array of sublime natural wonders, it's posh luxury camping options and it's amiable hosts, you really are left wanting for nothing, in this sylvan Shan gri-la.

The breathtaking Lake Coniston is a 10 minute drive away, however, if you're feeling particularly full of beans that day, then why not walk it and enjoy 2 hours of unspoilt fells and shockingly epic views. If you have any energy left after that, then why not book an adventure course at River Deep Mountain High. Choose from climbing, kayaking, gorge-walking and many many more (01539528666).

For the adventurous, why not try wild swimming and a picnic in Beacon Tarn? Or go for a magical walk in the mystical Duddon Valley.
